Understanding The ASVAB
The ASVAB is a multiple choice test, administered by the United States Military Entrance Processing Command (MEPC), used to determine qualification for enlistment in the United States Armed Forces. Passing scores vary from year to year depending on what kind of demand there are for recruits.
This test is offered at the Ka`u Campus twice a year with dates varying depending on student interest and requests. See Ms. Walker if you are interested in signing up. 10th, 11th & 12th graders only.
Many students believe that they will easily pass this test, but the majority of our students don't, so STUDEY, STUDEY, STUDEY. If you don't like the score which you receive, you can retake the test, but your most current score will be the one that recruiters use.
These web sites will help you with your studying.
ASVAB "Summary Results" and what they mean. Recruiters look at your test scores to see if they are high enough for you to begin the process of qualifying to enter the military. A score of 50 is what they call "The Gold Standard". This is a good solid score ... the higher the better.
This is what your test results will look like. The score that will be used by recruiters is the one at the bottom of the "ASVAB Results" list on the left.
There is more information on the web, but talk to a recruiter to get up-to-date information.
